Evidence / Clinical Support

HalerEase is an assistive aid designed to help people who struggle to press a pressurised metered-dose inhaler (pMDI) due to reduced hand strength or dexterity. It does not change the medicine, dose, or prescribed regimen. Always follow advice from your healthcare professional.

Why an assistive pMDI aid is useful

  • Inhaler errors are common and linked with poorer control and more healthcare use.
  • Actuation force can be a barrier for some users.
  • Dexterity-limiting conditions can affect operation of common inhalers.

What guidelines emphasise

  • Check and teach technique regularly; provide device-appropriate education.
  • pMDIs with or without a spacer are effective; match device to patient ability.

Where HalerEase fits

HalerEase is an assistive actuator for standard pMDIs. It may help users who find pressing the canister difficult. It is not a spacer/holding chamber and does not replace any device your clinician recommends.

Related engineering evidence

External lever-style aids can reduce the press force needed to activate pMDIs in bench/usability studies.

Note: this is not a clinical outcomes study of HalerEase.
